Julaine E. Field, PhD, LPC, is an associate professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services. She has been employed as a counseling practitioner for thirteen years which includes working as a school counselor, mental health counselor, college counselor, and in private practice. She has also worked extensively with victims (adults and children) of domestic violence and sexual assault and has conducted trainings in these areas for police officers, mental health workers and crisis responders. She has worked as a counselor educator for seven years, teaching a range of courses including group counseling, counseling theories, youth counseling, human sexuality, and courses related to school counseling. Finally, Dr. Field has authored publications related to counselor advocacy, gender identity, and relational and social aggression. She has also presented at international, national, and state conferences.

COUN 510 Theories and Techniques of Group Counseling
This course includes studies that provide a broad understanding of group development, group dynamics, group leadership styles and group counseling theories. Core group counseling skills and techniques will be studied in this course and practiced in COUN 511, a small group laboratory experience taken concurrently.

Dr. Julaine Field will present at the 2010 American Counseling Association national conference in Pittsburgh, Pa. Her ninety minute workshop is entitled “Untangling the Web: Prevention and Intervention for School Bullying”. This talk will feature information from the book, “Understanding Girl Bullying and What to do About it: Strategies to Heal the Divide”. She will be joined by Dr. Laura Crothers, Assistant Professor from Duquesne University and Dr. Jered Kolbert, Associate Professor from Slippery Rock University. Both are also authors for the featured book.
