General Information

The College of Education Extended Studies Program at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs provides various high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses for traditional and non-traditional students.

This program also provides an outreach effort for Colorado residents who request workshops, seminars, course, and professional development experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, credit or non-credit. Extended Studies includes instruction of all types delivered off-campus.

Instruction may be offered at off-campus locations or at other institution's campuses; delivered to students via mail and print material or electronic media including e-learning, Internet, E-college, email, television, satellite, or other technology media; or provided in collaboration with other institutions, agencies, or organizations.

The organizational structure of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) Extended Studies is described as decentralized, or college based, as contrasted with Continuing Education, a centralized model for alternative course delivery. The College of Education is one of five Colleges participating in University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Extended Studies. Other colleges on our campus participating in the Extended Studies programs are Business, Engineering and Applied Science, Letters, Arts, and Sciences, and Nursing and Health Sciences.

Each college has an Extended Studies Coordinator who reports to the dean of the appropriate college. Coordinators, in turn, develop college-based programs within the policies and procedures of University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and employ appropriate academic and financial support personnel.

The main objective of The College of Education Extended Studies Program is to increase campus capacity to respond to the region's educational, training, and professional development needs to support current students, potential students, community needs, and other regional and state clients.

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is in Association with the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.

The College of Education programs are fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and we are approved by the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado Commission of Higher Education.
