The State of Colorado was recently named as one of six states to receive a $500,000 grant from the National Governor’s Association to establish regional science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education networks. The Colorado STEM Network, comprised of five Regional Compacts, will coordinate with Governor Bill Ritter’s P-20 Education Council, The Colorado Achievement Plan for Kids, and the Governor’s Jobs Cabinet. The activities of this grant align directly with the Governor’s education agenda to decrease the dropout rate, to double number of degrees and certificates, and to close the achievement gap. Colorado Wins STEM Education Grant Initiative from the National Governors' Association (NGA)
The Colorado STEM Network coordinates closely with Governor Bill Ritter's new P-20 Education Council and the Governor's Jobs Cabinet. P-20 Council subcommittees includes a state-level coordinating center and a network of regional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) compacts.
UCCS' College of Education, working with UCCS' Center for Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Education (CSTEME) project are supporting the Colorado Springs Region Compact. Regional compact participants include Colorado State University, Poudre School District, University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Colorado State University-Pueblo.
