UCCS Trauma Center to
co-sponsor Exercise to
Prepare for Pandemic
Influenza
July 1, 2008
Please consider attending the
2008 Continental Divide
Disaster Behavioral Health
Conference, to be held July
8-10 in Colorado Springs. The
conference is jointly sponsored by the
Colorado Department of Human
Service’s Mental Health Division,
the Office of the Command Surgeon at U.
S. Northern Command, and the CU Trauma,
Health, and Hazards Center at the
University of Colorado at Colorado
Springs.
This year, organizers are focusing
the conference on Preparing for
Pandemic Influenza. The
conference partners are working
together to bridge the national divide
that exists between scientists and
practitioners at all levels of response
who must share ideas, knowledge and
understanding in order to respond
effectively to a large-scale disaster
like a pandemic outbreak. Many
sessions will be co-presented by
military and civilian
behavioral health experts because there
is much to be learned by sharing
practice and science between those two
domains. In addition, based on feedback
from participants at the 2007
conference, planners have added a skill
building day on July 7th to focus on
specific skills needed by new and
seasoned disaster responders alike.
Space is limited this year, so we
recommend that you visit the conference
website and register
immediately at www.uccs.edu/codivide
to hold your spot. If you are not
interested in this offering, please
pass this information along to a
colleague who may be interested.
For other questions regarding the
conference please contact the CU Trauma
Center at cutrauma@uccs.edu
or 1-800-990-8227 (ext. 3843).
We look forward to seeing you in
July in beautiful Colorado
Springs!
