UCCS CHS and 21CSI Are currently engaged in two collaborative efforts:
Critical Mass is a research project examining the role of critical thinking in a range of interpersonal contexts. This project explores the relationship between reasoning and interpersonal skills - both facets of General Intelligence, and investigates how these may differ across cultures. This incorporates basic and applied research in psychology and computer science to examine how educators can improve interpersonal skills through the application of critical thinking.
The POWER (POlitical Will Expert Reasoning) project merges political psychology, sociological modeling and dynamic natural language processing to develop a computational model of political will. It seeks to identify the relevant variables involved in geo-political stability, assess the influence of global factors on local issues, and understand how these factors combine to produce effects in some of the most volatile regions of the world. Eventually this research may lead to a Political Will decision support tool that will facilitate understanding of geo-political stability and help strategic planning in unstable regions of the world.
