**List of approved Chemistry courses counting toward the double major:

You must take at least one course from the following three:

  • CHEM 417 - Analytical Chemistry I (fall).
  • CHEM 450 - Biophysical Chemistry (fall)
  • CHEM 451 - Physical Chemistry I (fall)

You may also take up to three of any 400 or 500 level courses including:

  • CHEM 531 - Advanced Organic Chemistry I (fall).
  • CHEM 532 - Advanced Organic Chemistry II (spring).
  • CHEM 486 - Biochemistry Laboratory (spring) If not taken as BIOL 486.
  • CHEM 517 - Electrochemistry (fall).
  • CHEM 482 - Biochemistry II (spring) If not taken as BIOL 482, or if not taking CHEM 483.
    • Note that BIOL 481 must be taken before CHEM 482.
  • CHEM 940 - Independent Study in Chemistry Up to three credit hours may count if they are accumulated on one project with one faculty member, resulting in a report and presentation.
  • CHEM 401 - Inorganic Chemistry (fall).
  • CHEM 402 - Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory (spring).
  • CHEM 418 - Analytical Chemistry II (fall).
  • CHEM 484 - Molecular Biology (fall) If not taken as BIOL 484.
  • CHEM 420 - Practical Instrumental Analysis (spring).
  • CHEM 405 - Topics in Chemistry Some Topics in Chemistry classes may be applied as an upper level chemistry elective. Check with the department.
