Math Placement Test (MPT) - Used for placement in to appropriate math course - Enrolling in the correct math course is critical for your academic success. Attempting a math course without a solid foundation of the proper prerequisite material often leads to failure in the course.
Effective Summer 2011, students majoring in Business, Engineering, Health Care Science (not nursing), Innovation degrees, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology or certain Education programs (secondary options in biology, chemistry, math or physics), or who are preparing for Pre-Medicine, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Physician's Assistant and Pre-Veterinarian areas will be advised into a math course based upon their scores offered on an online math placement test.
If you plan to take a math course beginning summer 2011, you should now take the new math placement test to ensure proper math course placement. If you are an incoming freshman and are receiving college-level math credits from a different college or anticipate college-level credits from AP/IB tests, please contact Bev Kratzer, Director of the Career Center, 719-255-3745 or bkratzer@uccs.edu, to discuss the need to take the math placement test.
