General Information:
Unlike popular belief, economics is not simply the study of money. From Greek
oikos, "house ", and nomos, "rule ", hence "study of household
management "; it is a social science that studies the production, distribution,
trade and consumption of goods and services.
The Economics degree of UCCS analyzes the way in which society uses its scarce resources, such as land, labor, raw materials, machinery and equipment, to produces goods and services in an effective manner.
Economists contribute to the formulation of new ideas and economic theory, as well as practical solutions of current problems. Their research focuses on topics such as inflation, wage differentials, unemployment, economic growth and tax policy and how to adjust them to affect everyone, from small private corporations to government agencies.
