General Information:

Through the study of literature and writing, English majors develop an understanding of the language shapes and is shaped by the world. Students of literature are introduced to the historical foundations of the English language and learn to examine and interpret texts.
Students of writing study the connection between thought and verbal communication in order to improve understanding between one party and another by using more vigorous and exact language.

Career Possibilities:
The skills, values, and way of thinking emphasized in the English major provide excellent preparation for virtually any career field which requires critical analysis and exact writing:
