Bachelor of Science in Health Care Sciences

Mandatory Background Check Instructions

The Bachelor of Science in Health Services will prepare the graduate for professional practice in health related settings. The program includes a foundation in general education as well as a broad understanding of health care environments and delivery systems through the health science core curriculum.

It is possible to choose a major within the program to develop advanced specialization in a specific discipline such as 

Undergraduate Minor Options

Minors are available in two areas of Health Care Science

Each minor requires a minimum of 21 credit hourse chosen from a list of approved courses and no more than 9 credit hours of transfer work may be applied. Individual courses must be completed with a C- or better and GPA in minor courses must be a cumulative 2.0 or better. Some courses that apply to minors may have prerequisites that do not apply to the minor hours. Minors may be obtained by students enrolle din any undergraduate degree program.

Special Features of the Program
  • The program is structured for the adult learner. Classes are scheduled at times convenient for the working professional as well as the traditional students.

  • The course of study integrates current knowledge in career-oriented curricula with advanced science and liberal arts education to prepare students for leadership roles in health related professions.

  • The student, along with academic advisors, will structure a program which best meets the career goals of the student. There is flexibility within the program to individualize the curricula. 

  • The community provides a rich resource for clinical facilities in which to obtain patient care clinical or management preceptorships. Arrangements will be made to complete these experiences outside the city if specific clinical settings are needed to develop advanced practice skills. Highly qualified faculty teach cutting edge information with direct application to clinical practice. 

  • Students can choose a pace which best fits their needs. Full-time and part-time options are available.

  • There is an opportunity to apply previously earned college credits and/or credits from a hospital based approved certificate program to the BS degree.

  • The course of study provides an opportunity to expand technical expertise along with advanced educational experiences. Skills in management, health promotion, critical thinking and communication are developed. 

  • Students are expected to have computer skills upon entering Beth-El. If not, students can take an introduction to computer course for 3 credits.

  • Students are required to complete a portfolio as a requirement for graduation.  The portfolio will be introduced in HSCI 200 and be evaluated for completeness by the faculty directing the students internship/practicum.  Those who do not have an internship/practicum will be required to submit the portfolio to the department chair their final semester before graduation.

Application Information How to Apply
  • Obtain an Undergraduate Application form from the Office of Admissions and Records in person, by phone, mail, or e-mail
  • Follow the instructions for completing the form and ensure that all required documents are delivered by the deadline dates published in the Schedule of Courses.
Notification

As soon as possible after the Office of Admissions and Records receives all required credentials, students will be notified of their admission status. If eligible, the student will receive notification of eligibility for admission. Admission eligibility to the University of Colorado does not constitute a guarantee of enrollment in any specific course or program.
