Faculty Course Questionnaires (FCQs)

About FCQs

  • FCQs are a standardized evaluation given at the end of each class that are used to enhance learning and to support the faculty evaluation/rewards process
  • The results are published and available to students (in the library), faculty, departments and University administration
  • FCQs should be only one component of a well-rounded instructor rating program; Mid-course Evaluations and other formative assessments are encouraged
  • UCCS FCQs are administered through the CU-Boulder Office of Planning, Budget, and Analysis and governed by Regents Policy 4b
  • The new FCQ form has nine scannable response questions, a 1-6 response scale replacing the 5-point A-F scale, and one narrative response question replacing four. The new form was implemented Fall 2006
  • The form has room for optional questions for use by instructors, departments and colleges

Results Utilized By

  • Individual instructors - improving their courses/teaching and for promotion/tenure documentation (contact the TLC for assistance)
  • Department chairs and deans - course assignments, departmental review, promotion, salary, and tenure decisions
  • Students for use in course selection. Results are available in Kraemer Family Library

Optional Questions

  • An excellent method for obtaining additional summative information from your students
  • Space for 24 optional questions on side two of the FCQ form
  • Optional questions can be requested online at: http://fcq.colorado.edu/opts/optsform.htm
  • Over 800 catalogued questions can be searched and selected
  • New questions can be created
  • You must renew your request each term. The deadline for Fall/Spring are typically March 1 and October 1 respectively, check the FCQ calendar.
  • Individual optional questions have precedence over departments, your college, or the campus
