Alumni Connections: School of Public Affairs, April 2011
Learning and Teaching Discovery and Innovation Community and Culture Health and Wellness The UCCS School of Public Affairs is a model of these four areas of excellence. Community and Culture On February 24, the UCCS School of Public Affairs and the Center for the Study of Government and the Individual hosted the 11th Leadership Conference drawing together community members to learn together. Discovery and Innovation On April 1, students and faculty presented their research at the Mountain Lion Research Day. The purpose of Mountain Lion Research Day is to encourage and promote communication and collaboration between investigators at UCCS. This day has been set aside to recognize undergraduate and graduate student research efforts, highlight aspects of faculty research activities, and showcase the diversity and growth of research pursuits on campus. Presenting and participating at this event Dr. Katie Kaukinen, Associate Professor and Director of the BACJ and MCJ Programs, and two BACJ students, Laurie Buchanan and Tiffany Endres. Learning and Teaching Laurie Buchanan and Tiffany Endres shared the research completed as a part of their classroom work: Ms. Buchanan shared research Juveniles Tried as Adults and Ms. Endres on Behavior Traits of College Students: Killers on Campus. Health and Wellness Alumni, students, staff, faculty and community members welcomed spring in with laughter at the spring Alumni and Friends Networking Event featuring the Colorado Springs' premier improve comedy troupe, Stick Horses in Pants. What is most amazing, however, is that examples of the excellence of learning and teaching, discovery and innovation, community and culture, and health and wellness can be found on any given day at the UCCS School of Public Affairs! Sincerely, Mountain Lion Research Day Highlights Criminal Justice Students' Research
