Newsweek quoted UCCS faculty member Daphne Greenwood in Will We Double-Dip? Nelson honored for UCCS commercial. David Nelson, associate professor, Communication Department, recently received a bronze award in the commercial category of the 32nd Annual Telly Awards Competition. Nelson received the award for “Jigsaw Puzzle,” a 30 second commercial about UCCS.(More) Theatreworks makes move to professional actors. Theatreworks recently completed a seasonal agreement with the Actors’ Equity Association, the union of professional stage actors and managers. Southern Colorado STEM camp enlightens young scientists. With the assistance of UCCS staff members, Otero Junior College recently hosted more than 60 middle school students for a STEM in Real Life Camp, a summer youth program focused on science, technology, engineering and math. Sara Qualls, Kraemer Family Professor of Aging, presented “What Gets Aging Families in Trouble? As the fall semester gets underway at your alma mater, campus activity is at an all-time high. Students moved into housing last week, we welcomed over 1,200 students and faculty back to campus at our annual Convocation Ceremony in the Gallogly Events Center, and classes began on August 22.
In the past year, the University of Colorado received more than $213.2 million in private support -- the highest total in CU history, according to preliminary figures announced July 20. 
Two University of Colorado Colorado Springs representatives traveled to the White House recently to meet with officials in the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships. (
With five points awarded for the highest grade point average, UCCS won this season’s rivalry series against Colorado State University-Pueblo 29-16 and retained possession of the Ent Federal Credit Union Trophy. 
Brian Duvick, Department of History, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, was recommended for promotion to associate professor and the granting of tenure.
Andrew Subudhi, Department of Biology, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, was recommended for promotion to associate professor and the granting of tenure.
Caron Allen (’05) donated a copy of her book “From Whence They Came” to the Cedartown Historical Society
