Application Process
The earlier the better! The UCCS Admissions Office strongly encourages you to apply at least ninety days before the first day of the semester you wish to enroll.
After a student has been admitted to UCCS, and a new student orientation session has been completed, the student should be eligible to register. Times and details of registration and orientation information may be found at http://www.uccs.edu/~orientation Graduate application processing is managed by individual departments and applicants should contact those programs for assistance with registration.
Your application may be updated for one calendar year.
Your social security number is not a factor in an admission decision. However, the UCCS Financial Aid Office requires your SSN to be on file for award purposes; and, to assess your eligibility for the College Opportunity Fund (COF). If you are seeking financial aid, it is in your best interest to list your SSN on your application.

Yes, you will need to reapply. If you have attended another college or university since you last attended UCCS you will need to pay the application fee again.
If you have never taken the ACT or SAT, you must then meet transfer admission criteria to be admitted or you must have graduated from high school prior to 1988. Otherwise, we require ACT or SAT test scores for all freshman applicants. A supplemental ACT is offered through the UCCS Testing Center.
If your high school graduation was 1988 or later and you are applying to enter as a new freshman, you must submit an official high school transcript with graduation date to the UCCS Admissions Office. ACT and/or SAT scores must also be submitted. These can usually be obtained by contacting your high school or directly from testing sources. If you have completed at least 12 hours of college coursework and meet transfer admission criteria you will be evaluated for admission based on submission of post-secondary transcripts and test scores are not required.
MAPS is an acronym for Minimum Academic Preparation Standards for undergraduate students. (For full explanation of MAPS requirements, see http://www.uccs.edu/futurestudents/admissions.html Freshmen and transfer students who have graduated from high school in 1988 or later are subject to MAPS requirements. Students may be considered for admission even though they have not met all the MAPS requirements, but all MAPS deficiencies must be completed prior to graduation from UCCS.
Residency and Tution:
In order to qualify for residency, a student age 23 or older must have an established domicile in the State of Colorado for at least one year, with the intent to remain in Colorado permanently. Residency for students under the age of 23 is based upon the established domicile of their parents or legal guardians. When petitioning for residency, factors that affect the decision include, but are not limited to: home ownership or home rental agreement in Colorado, Colorado vehicle registration, Colorado driver's license, Colorado voter registration, and payment of Colorado income tax. http://www.uccs.edu/admrec/tuition.html

Transfer Students
You may find additional information about transfer course credit at http://www.uccs.edu/~transfer/ Most course evaluation will be completed one week after admission. This information will be posted in the student’s portal to see how credit transferred and applies to the new UCCS degree. Some courses may not be able to be articulated and the department will review the courses in question. In most cases, lower-division courses will be reviewed and articulated in the one-week time. International transcripts will also take longer to be fully evaluated.
You must submit an official transcript from any and all institutions of higher education that you have attended, even if transfer and current coursework is listed on another transcript.
Students must list all institutions of higher education they have attended on the application. If you completed coursework at an institution of higher education, but it cannot be reflected on an official transcript, a formal letter on letterhead from that institution verifying that no credit was awarded must be submitted to the UCCS Admissions Office .
