Purpose
The Office of the Dean of Students serves as a link between individual students, student government, and the various academic and administrative offices of the university.  The Office of the Dean of Student has a dedicated staff that is here to serve you.

The Office of the Dean of Students is a place where you can go to be heard and receive information to address your questions, concerns and problems.  We network with University departments and programs to provide clarity on university protocols, policies and rules.

Authority
The Office of Dean of Students receives its authority from the Laws of the Regents as provided for in the Colorado Revised Statutes.  The Laws of the Regents state that, "By enrolling as a student in the university, a person shall assume obligations of performances and behavior established by the university relevant to its lawful missions, processes, and functions.  For allegations of student misconduct, the chancellor or designee shall prescribe procedures for the determination of facts, findings, and assessment of remedies.  These procedures shall contain the basic elements of procedural due process."

The Student Code of Conduct
The purpose of the Student Conduct Code is to maintain the general welfare of the university community.  The university strives to make the campus community a place of study, work, and residence where people are treated, and treat one another, with respect and courtesy.  The university views the student conduct process as a learning experience that can result in growth and personal understanding of one's responsibilities and privileges within both the university community and the greater community.  All students must follow these standards. Students who violate these standards will be subject to the actions described below.  These procedures are designed to provide fairness to all who are involved in the conduct process.

It is the goal of the Office of the Dean of Students for all students to fully understand their rights and responsibilities throughout the student conduct process.  This starts at Orientation through discussions about the responsibilities of all members of the University Community and to information and programs during the academic year.  At all conduct meetings, students are presented all necessary information for them to make informed decisions about the process.  You can use the links on the left to review the entire Student Conduct process.
