Writing Center Open House - Wednesday, February 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Come by on Wednesday, February 4th at any time between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to enjoy some snacks and beverages, get to know the Writing Center, and be entered into a drawing to win a prize! We will have many stations where you can ask questions and learn all about our in-center & online consultations, online scheduling system, workshops & WOMBATs, spring events, employment opportunities, and much more!

Restore Innocence Drive - All Semester

The trafficking of young girls continues to be prevalent worldwide and even in our own community. Those that are lucky enough to escape the horrors that have destroyed their innocence are usually without a home and are placed in insufficient shelters or programs. and these girls may find themselves back on the street. Please join the Writing Center in helping us provide basic necessities for these girls which gives them comfort as they struggle through the long road ahead of healing and getting back the innocence they lost.  This drive will be throughout the entire spring semester of 2015. 

Lyric Writing Workshop - Wednesday, February 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Calling all writers and musicians! Come see us at the Writing Center on Tuesday, February 11th from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. for our Lyric Writing Workshop! For this event we will be listening to several musical classics throughout the decades and analyzing what makes them so influential. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who is interested in learning more about the power of music, writing lyrics in a group dynamic, and/or sharing your writing with other artists on campus.  

Fairytale Writing Workshop - Wednesday, March 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00

Are you fascinated with classic tales of girls in red caps, porridge that is just right, or a glass slipper that fits?  Do you want to write your own stories that involve dashing heroes, faraway places, and magic galore? Then come join us for our Fairytale Writing Workshop on Wednesday, March 18th from 6:30p.m. - 8:00p.m. and learn the elements, tips, and tricks needed to create your very own fairytale from the classics that we all know and love and even those foreign and abroad. 

Open Mic Night - Wednesday, April 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Meet us at Clyde's Pub on Wednesday, April 15 at any time between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for our Open Mic Night! Anyone is welcome and encouraged to share any obscure or underappreciated literature. Stop by and read anything you think is funny, striking, beautiful, or just plain weird. 

Dead Week - Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8

We at the Writing Center know how stressful studying for finals can be, and we're here to help! Stop by during the week before finals (Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8) to get some stress relief and study pointers, talk to our writing guru for quick writing tips, warm up by our "fireplace" and enjoy some coffee or hot chocolate. 

WOMBAT Workshop Series

These stand-alone workshops are for anyone who is thinking about or engaging in ANY kind of writing and communication.
