Standard Connection Instructions


1. Click the networking icon in the system tray, typically located in the lower right side of the screen.

2. Click the UCCS-Wireless network.

 

 

3. Click "Connect"

4. If this is the first time connecting, you will be prompted for a username and password.  These are the same as your normal campus credentials.

5. A certificate warning window may pop up if you have not previously connected.  Click 'Connect'.

6. You should now be connected to the Internet.

 

Manual Wireless Network Setup

 

Typically, Windows is capable of detecting most of the needed wireless network settings automatically.  If this does not seem to be working, you can manually configure the network using the following steps:

1. Click on the networking icon in the system tray, typically located in the lower right of the screen.

2. Click 'Open Network and Sharing Center' to bring up the Networking control panel.

3. Click 'Manage wireless networks', located near the upper left of the window. This will open the wireless network management window.

4. Click 'Add', located near the upper left of the window.  This will bring up the 'Manually connect to a wireless network' window.

5. Click 'Manually create a network profile'.

6. In the 'Network name:' box, type UCCS-Wireless.

7. In the 'Security type' box, select WPA2-Enterprise.

8. In the 'Encryption type:' box, select AES.

9. Click 'Next'.

10. Click 'Close' to close the window.

11.  The network should now be configured.  The next time you attempt to connect to it, it should then ask you for your username and password.

 

Troubleshooting


If you are having problems authenticating with the wireless network, especially if your computer has been previously configured to work with another network, try the following:

1. Click on the networking icon in the system tray, typically located in the lower right of the screen.

2. Right click on the UCCS-Wireless networking, then click 'Properties'.  This should bring up the 'UCCS-Wireless Wireless Network Properties' window.

3. Click on the 'Security' tab in the upper left of the window.

4. Click on the 'Settings' button near the middle of the window.

5. Click on the 'Configure...' button near the bottom right of the window.  This should open the 'EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties' window.

6. Uncheck the box asking to authmatically use your Windows logon name and password, then press 'OK' to close the window.

7. Press 'OK' to close the 'Protected EAP Properties' window.

8. Press 'OK' to close the 'UCCS-Wireless Wireless Network Properties' window.

9. Attempt to connect to the UCCS-Wireless network as described above.
