What tools can you use to test your site for web accessibility?

WAVE from http://www.webaim.org is an excellent tool for evaluating your page and site for web accessibilty. You can enter a website address, upload a file or check html code using this tool. Click on the word WAVE at the beginning of this sentence to access this tool.
On this wave site, you can also install the WAVE Firefox Toolbar so you can load WAVE from these environments.

Is there a quick reference guide to help me validate my site for web accessibilty?
Web Aim provides an excellent website that can help you make your website accessible to people that have disabilites. http://webaim.org/resources/quickref/

Assets

How do you upload and link PDF files to your Ingeniux documents?
Upload pdf files to the [site]documents folder in Ingeniux. Link the pdf file using the link option in the Tiny-MCE Editor.

What goes into the Assets Folder and how is it divided?
-Images (web images jpg , gif, png)
-Documents (pdf, ppt, doc, xls)
-Media (Video clips mov, flv, fla, wmv, avi)
-PreBuilt (javascript .js and Cascading style sheets .css)

Basics

-What is Ingeniux CMS8?
Ingeniux CMS enables anyone to update web pages in minutes, enforces compliance and key standards, and provides a scalable platform for managing website content and assets. Ingeniux is a full-service web content management software and enterprise social software vendor that enables organizations to manage world-class websites and turn content into advantage. The Ingeniux CMS Web Experience Management platform delivers usable, scalable, innovative solutions for managing websites, online media, and team collaboration.

-How do we get a site shell / Login created?
A site shell is a site created in Ingeniux for you to put up your website. If the site is a university sanctioned site, (ie. Department site, Faculty site. ) webservices, can add the site to Ingeniux and then give you the proper computer permissions to begin working on the site. You may request that a site be created by sending the request to web@uccs.edu Please indicate the name of your site such as "psych" for psychology, or "clc" for Chancellor's Leadership class.

The Ingeniux CMS Client requires which one of the following Internet Browser / Operating System combinations?

Can we run Ingeniux from home?
Yes, but in order to use Ingeniux from home, you must first run VPN. You can setup VPN on computer by following the instructions on the Information Technology website. Once you have logged in to the network using VPN. You may use Ingeniux.

What is the URL to access Ingeniux?

What are the different File types that you can use in Ingeniux?

Ingeniux generates files with the extension of .html not .htm

Banners / Branding

Can We Replace the banner at the top of the page with our own banner?
To have a website on the UCCS server you must adhere to the university branding standards. There are several guidelines on using the top banner on a UCCS website. The guidelines for banners, branding and printed media at UCCS can be found on the University Advancement website.

Checking In / Checking Out

Someone else in my department has a file checked out that I need to work on.  Is there a way to check that file in, or can more than one person work on the file at the same time?
Ingeniux only allows one person at a time to checkout a file. This ensures the integrity of the file.

Deletions / History


Can I get and html file back that I have accidentally deleted?
Yes, files that you delete go to a recycle bin at the bottom of the site tree. You can drag the file back on to your folder on the site tree.

-Can I retrieve an older version of a file?
Yes you can reinstate an older version of a file using the History tab at the top of the Ingeniux screen.

Editing
/ Tools

What areas of my website can I access to edit?
You can edit the body and head of the document even though the head in Ingeniux is separated from the body. You also have complete control of the navigation on either the top of the document, or on the left. You can also edit the subsite-control which includes the gray bar on the bottom of the page.

Are there other tools to use that go with Ingeniux?
Ingeniux has a helpful built-in image editor. Tiny MCE is the name of the built in web editor, and you can always cut and paste your html from one document to another document for example in another editor such as Dreamweaver. Work on the code and then paste it back into Ingeniux.

Is there a way to paste into documents cleanly from Microsoft Word?

Yes, on the TinyMCE editor there is a paste from Word command. With this command, you can paste in Microsoft Word Content and Word will strip out unnecessary code that should not be in the document giving you a clean paste into your HTML document.

Can you easily cut and paste from Ingeniux to other editors to  work on web documents?
Yes, using Dreamweaver as an example, you can cut and past the html code from the html document in Ingeniux, switch to Dreamweaver, paste the code into dreamweaver, work on the document in Dreamweaver, switch back to Ingeniux and paste the code back in.

Forms

-How do I make a form for my website?
You can request that a form be developed for you site through WebServices.  Please email your request to web@uccs.edu and indicate the names of the fields that you want for your form.  For example, (First Name, Last Name, Address, Phone).  Web Services will build the form that uses a database on the back end to collect the data.  Webservices will put the form inside of a page in your website.  The data from the form submission can be emailed to an email address or returned to the end user in a text file.  The text file could then be imported into a spreadsheet or database for further analysis.

-How can you resize a graphic once it is in Ingeniux?
-Is there a way to edit images in Ingeniux?

Site Tree

-What is the Ingeniux Site Tree?
Logical representation of page relationships organized into ancestors, siblings, and children. The Site pane provides a tree-structure view of the CMS site based on the site structure. This structure defines a position for each page relative to other pages in the site. Selecting a node (whether a page, component, or folder) displays the selected node in the edit pane. On the site tree you can change the order of the navigation, create pages, components and folders.

Tracking / Analytics

How can I track the number of hits (user views) on my website?
Open an account in Google, and add Google Analytics to your website. http://www.google.com/analytics/

Viewing and Publishing

What is an Ingeniux Publish?
Incremental publish transfers you website to the web server so that it can be viewed over a web browoser.

What does it mean to Mark / Unmark for publish?
Makes a page (or a page and its checked-in children) available or unavailable for publish when the page is checked in. The attribute (flag)  of Unmark for publish prevents an unfinished file from publishing to the web.  When the file(s) are ready to publish to the web, change the attribute to Mark for publish to publish to the web.

Do you have to republish any images, documents that are inside of the Ingeniux Assets folder?
No files that have been uploaded into the Ingeniux assets folder have been published. You still need to publish the files that contain the links going


What are some of the factors that could contribute to publishing times?
Number
of people that are publishing at the exact same momement.

What is the average publishing time?

Anytime from 1 min to several hours. The avg time would be about 5 to 10 minutes.

How can I publish the whole site, but have ingenix skip certain pages?
The pages that you want to skip set as "Unmarked for publish"
