Opportunities
AIRBORNE
TRAINING:
The US Army
Airborne School, located at Ft. Benning, Georgia, is
available to cadets who are enrolled in the program.
Priority is to contracted cadets. The course is two
weeks long, consisting of a ground & tower week
and jump week. Each week focuses on a different type
of training designed to teach you how to parachute out
of airplanes and helicopters and walk away from the
landing. It is an exciting non-stop course that will
push you to the limit. This course is the basis for
entry into the elite world of the paratrooper.
AIR ASSAULT
TRAINING:
Air Assault
training is available at different Army posts across
the country, but is headquartered out of Ft. Campbell,
Kentucky. This two week course is available to cadets
who are enrolled in the program, with priority going
to contracted cadets. Students learn the
characteristics of Army aircraft, how to sling load
equipment safely for aerial transport, and learn how
to rappel out of helicopters. This is a physically and
mentally demanding course that culminates in a 12 mile
timed road march in full combat equipment. The
knowledge, self-discipline and esprit de corps that
you gain will be valuable throughout your life.
NORTHERN
WARFARE TRAINING:
Northern
Warfare training will train you how to survive in the
worst of conditions. It is conducted in the heart of
the Alaska wilderness. It will also train in art of
maneuvering and conducting missions in all types of
weather and on all types of terrain. The course is
conducted in three parts: River Operations,
Mountaineering, and Glacier Operations. This course is
not for the faint of heart so if you land a spot at
Northern Warfare School you'd better be prepared.
MOUNTAIN
WARFARE TRAINING:
Mountain
Warfare School, located in Jericho, Vermont at Camp
Ethan Allen Training Site, is a four week course that
is divided into two phases: a two week summer phase
and a two week winter phase. This course is
physically demanding and mentally challenging for all
who attend. Soldiers from other countries as
well as Special Forces from all of the United States
armed services frequently attend this school for some
of the best mountain training in the world.
CADET TROOP
LEADER TRAINING (CTLT):
CTLT
increases a cadet's leadership experience in the
summer between the Junior and Senior year, after
successful completion of Advanced Camp. The Cadet is
assigned to a platoon leader position in an active
Army unit and given an opportunity to lead soldiers.
It familiarizes cadets with the command, training,
administration and logistical functions of active duty
units. It also exposes cadets to the on-duty and
off-duty environment of the junior officer.
LEADER'S TRAINING
COURSE (LTC):
You may qualify to
attend LTC if you:
- Have not taken Military Science I and II
- Are medically qualified to attend
- Are transferring from a school that did not
offer ROTC
- Are a junior or community college graduate
entering an ROTC school and have no prior active or
Reserve Component military service
- Are a graduate student starting a two-year
program
- Are a high school graduate entering a military
junior college

Students with prior military service, or who
took Junior ROTC, may be given credit for Basic Course
completion and would not be required to attend the
Leader's Training Course.
Leader's Training course is attended during the
summer between your sophomore and junior years of
college for five weeks at Fort Knox (Louisville),
Kentucky. The purpose of the Leader's Training Course
is to provide instruction in the basic leadership and
technical skills that will prepare you for your junior
and senior years of ROTC. During this camp you have
the opportunity to compete for available two year or
Guaranteed Reserve Forces scholarships. All travel
expenses are paid and you are paid while attending
camp. |
