I had some pretty major setbacks during my ROTC

MEPS assignment I came back to Jackson for the Career
Course. Unfortunately, I herniated a couple of
discs, 3 and had back surgery on July 31st of this
year. I am recovering fine, but will have to
finish AGCCC in a year or so. You have to stay
focused on your goals! If not for the back
surgery I would never have the chance to work on the

I was commissioned in December 1999, branched
Infantry and finally have taken a knee to drink some
water. My IOBC, Ranger school, and subsequent
training (Air Assault, EIB, NTC, JRTC x2) at Ft
Campbell has served me well. As a branch detail
Infantry Lt I served with the 101st ABN
as a platoon leader and rifle company XO. I
transitioned into the Finance branch and served a
brief period at Fort Campbell's Military Pay
Office. From there I served as the Aide-de-Camp for
the 24th Infantry Division?s ADC-F
(Forward since the main HQ is at Ft Riley) which is
responsible for the training and readiness oversight
of three National Guard Enhanced Separate Brigades (ESB).
Two of which served a year in Iraq. Currently I am
the commander of Bravo Detachment 106th
Finance located in Vilseck Germany. As the
commander I am responsible for providing finance
support to all Soldiers and civilians within my area
(Vilseck, Grafenwoehr & Hohenfels). I also have
experience with logistics, as my prior service time
(8 years) was spent as a Supply Sergeant working
unit supply rooms through Brigade S4 and PBO. I am
married and have three children. I can honestly say
the Army has always been a demanding yet rewarding
experience. No other place can offer what the
military can in terms of developing individuals and
instilling a sense of camaraderie.

Greeting
from Ft. Carson and the AG Community.
My name is CPT Arturo Roque and I was commissioned in December 1999 in the
AG Corps. I
have a BS in Sociology from UCCS and an AA in General
Studies from Pikes Peak Community College.
I am currently the Adjutant and the S1
Personnel Officer for the 10th Combat
Support Hospital.
My job is very special because my shop is in
charge of 650 soldiers and their families? personnel
issues (Finance, Leaves, Promotions, Personnel
Actions, Personnel Database, Awards, Legal).
I am also responsible for all social issues
concerning the Hospital Commander.
In other words I am a Human Resource Manager.
My unit just returned from Iraq, where we
conducted Split Base Operations and I also functioned
as the G1 for the 30th Medical Brigade out
of Germany. This
last job was very fulfilling because we were in charge
of over 5000 soldiers. After
completing my OBC at Ft. Jackson, SC, I was assigned
to the 4th Personnel Services Battalion
where I worked in numerous positions.
I was an XO, Assistant Chief of PAS
(automation), Chief of Enlisted and SR. NCO Promotions
for Ft. Carson, Commander of the 1st ever
Personnel Management Center (the 43RD Area
Support Group PMC).
This was extremely rewarding because I was able
to command as a LT (big plus) and because with a staff
of 20 soldiers we took care of 6000 soldiers and their
families? admin issues. I
was scheduled to attend my Career Course but I will be
replacing the current BDE ADJ/S1 position in May FY 04
(a position designed for a MAJ).
I am looking forward for this opportunity
because I know it will provide the knowledge and the
skills I need to become a G1 someday. My
advise to you is to work hard in everything you do,
don?t be scared to ask questions and to make
mistakes. Your leaders are there to help you grow.
If you are given an opportunity to command
early take it, I learned so much.
If
you have any questions or if you wish to see how a
personnel shop is operated, just call me at 526-2617. I will gladly assist you with anything. Take
care UCCS; you guys are doing a great job.

OTHER:
My
name is 1LT Timothy D. Tyner and I graduated from the mighty mountain
ranger battalion in May 2002. I was branched into the
Signal Corps against my wishes but have found that
this really is the place to be. I am currently sitting
in the middle of the McGregor Military Missile Range and Maneuver
Area. This email is only possible via a direct like to
our DOIM and into a Node Center. My current unit is
HHB 3rd Battalion (PATRIOT) 2ndAir Defense Artillery
stationed here at lovely Fort Bliss, Texas. We are part
of the 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade that
directly supports III(US) Corps. The PATRIOT Missile
system is very reliant on UHF and SINCGARS
communications and as such my platoon is responsible
for all the relay traffic from the line batteries to
the battalion. It is an interesting job but also very
boring at times. We sit in the middle of the dessert
and wait for something to happen. My platoon has 27
soldiers and my February everyone of my NCO's will be
gone to Korea, Recruiting, Germany, etc. Upon
arrival to Fort Bliss our unit was put on a warning
order which soon became a deployment order for
Operation Iraqi Freedom. That order was soon cancelled
when our battalion commander was relieved, cause,
still unknown to us joes. Since being stationed at
Fort Bliss I have had the opportunity to learn a whole
new set of Signal Operations and the fact that without
Signal support, nothing happens. When the shots are in
we are loved, the second they go down, well that is
the bad part of Signal. All in all I am very happy
with the Signal Corps, other than Fort Bliss. A fellow
LT from our sister battalion described Fort Bliss and
Iraq as being much the same. Both are exceptionally
hot, both are deserts, and in both places you can't
understand the natives! Just remember that where ever
you are that PATRIOT will watch over you. Trust me, I
was very skeptical at first but the system does work,
sometimes. Well that's about it. Getting married in
June time frame. Still don't know if the Army is for
me or not but I have lots of time to see. Hope
all are doing well and staying safe. Take care, God
Bless, and MRB 4LIFE.

graduated the MRB in May of 2002, which was one of the
smartest things I have ever done. From there I was off
to Ft. Lewis, WA to be a Cadre LT for A CO, First
Platoon, First Regiment. After leaving there, I packed
up and moved to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, home to the
Engineers, the Military Police, and the Chemical
School. Upon Graduation from the secretive ways of the
Chemical Realm in December of 02, my family and I
moved to farthest north Army Base, Ft. Wainwright,
Alaska...in January...on the ALCAN highway, which by
the way is the best time of the year to drive it, so
long as your vehicle is prepared. A great post, cold
as hell, but still great. My family has adjusted well
to the army life, and are enjoying it. If any of you
at the MRB are heading up this way, send me an e-mail.
I would be more than happy to give you any info for
the trip. Stay
safe and warm, and take care of
yourselves.
