There are many career options open to students of art history. These careers include: museum and gallery work (exhibition development, registration, art handling, public relations, development, grant writing, museum education, program development and volunteer coordination).

Arts administration and non-profit management (within museums, city offices of cultural affairs, public art departments, granting organizations, U.S. Embassies, study aboard offices).

Various positions within auction houses (research, appraisals, customer relations and public relations).
