What excites you about your major?

The thing that excites me the most about my major is the fact that this field has a vast amount of room to expand. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what one can study in this field. The best part of it all is that no matter what field one chooses it all has the potential to help people.

What excites you about your major?

I'm excited to see how society will adapt to the evolving field of security. Technology is changing all the time, so that means attacks will increase. This presents new problems for computer scientists like myself to quickly mitigate and prevent such problems from expanding.

What excites you most about your research?

Almost everything excites me. Most people don't get excited about running water, soil, and plant samples through a rigorous and precise chemistry technique, yet it is absolutely fascinating and wonderful to me. Each to our own. Also, every new discovery, data set, or nuance of analytical chemistry sends me soaring, so I think I might be in the right place.

What excites you about your research?

The possibility of seeing why children think differently, and look at how their development impacts their memory skills, task switching abilities, and their overall development of thoughts of how to solve problems.

Christopher Foley Business/Psychology

What excites you about your research?

The research is going to provide me with experience using psychophysiological systems to help explain how the body and mind interact to effect behavior during a conflictual situation.

Maria Font Biochemistry

What excites you about your research?

My research has such a potential to be so beneficial for many human diseases, such as cancer. It is a natural approach that takes advantage of the incredible mechanisms the body already utilizes.

What excites you about your major?

I love being able to learn about how molecules come together and interact in amazingly complex and yet very organized ways to make up living organisms. I find this whole topic both awe-inspiring and endlessly fascinating, and getting to learn more about it is what I love most about being a biochemistry major.

What excites you about your major?

Discovering why systems behave in certain ways and being able to use math and reason to describe how the world works.

What excites you about your research?

It's a good day in lab everyday regardless of my results. I am always learning something new whether it is a technique or interpreting unfamiliar results, I love working in lab.

...[through] the hands-on learning experience that I will gain, this project will serve as a foundation of my future endeavors, and I am eager to gain that experience from a mentor whose research practices I admire.

Tim Hills Mechanical Engineering

What excites you about your major?

I love the diversity of skill mechanical engineers are equipped with. Whether I am analyzing or soldering circuits, developing code or machining parts, I enjoy every second of it.

Nicholas Jenkins Physics

What excites you about your research?

This incredible opportunity gives me the chance to learn the way physics is really "done". This will take everything I have learned so far off of a page in a book and set it down directly in front of me.

My major excites me for many different reasons, almost none of which were why I chose biology as a major. When I first started, I picked biology simply because doctors are biologists. However, through school, I have been excited by everything that is biology. I believe that knowledge truly is power, and through biology- from genetics to cell biology biochemistry- I am gaining real perspective of how the world works on the fundamental level.

...I get to research the final snip that pinches off one species from another [during evolution]. Understanding those final divisions is to understand why we have this vast diversity of life on Earth. Using my interest in molecular biology is to work on answers to the big questions is why I am here.

The study of how humans think and behave is so relevant to all of us. Learning the specifics and investigating the details is so fascinating. It seems that the more we discover, the more questions we have left to answer. It's an area that will always be relevant and will forever be developing.

Brooke Small Brooke Small Psychology

The field is ripe for discovery. There is so much left to understand about the way our brains interact with our bodies and environment to create our interpretation of each experience we have.

I find it exciting that we can combine the disciplines of physics and medicine in order to develop new and effective methods in combating illness.

Further exploring and understanding how gene regulation and various other forms of cellular regulation can have an effect on an entire organism's development is truly fascinating to me. Being able to take this understanding and use it to understand the underlying causes of neurodevelopmental disorders is my ultimate career goal.
