December 11, 2003

11:30 - 12:30 p.m.

Members present: Anthony Martinez (attending for Danny Bristol), Jeff Davis, Laura Eurich, Ed Hughes, Ann Cesare (attending for Robert King), Ben Martin, Dawn Weathers, Mary Yates

Members absent: Carmen Abeyta, Christi-Marie Butler, Becky Coffrin, Nick Dogan, Gayla Gallegos, Tara Miller, Robert Wonnett

Jeff Davis opened the meeting at 11:35 p.m. A meeting agenda and two previous meeting minutes were distributed.

Approval of minutes from May 7, 2003 and October 30, 2003. Jeff asked that the two previous meeting minutes be reviewed. Laura Eurich moved to approve the minutes with no changes and Ann Cesare seconded the motion. The vote was to approve.

Posting Policy. Jeff noted that the current posting policy has a two week posting period with the exception of housing opportunities and services offered. At present, the flyers have to be stamped and dated by the University Center Information Desk. A student employee clears the boards twice a month and sorts through the boards to see which flyers stay posted and which are cleared depending on the date stamp. The proposed changes would eliminate the need for a date to be stamped on the flyers. The proposal would be to clear all flyers off boards on the first and third Friday of every month. This would be a more efficient method of clearing the boards – so that the boards have a more readable appearance. Ann moved to approve the changes to the Posting Policy and Ben Martin seconded the motion. The vote was to approve.

Semester construction projects.

Aerobic Room Twin "T". Jeff noted that the Aerobics Room will be closed off from December 19 – Jan 19 while the Twin "T" is being repaired. The "T" will be repaired with interwoven rebar to reinforce the bar. Since this repair will be over the break there will be no interruption of classes.

Ansul System. The Ansul fire system will be inspected in the Overlook Cafe on December 22.

Gym Floor. The gym floor will be refinished December 22-27. There will be no intramurals, Athletic practices or open gym during this time. The sanding and floor base will take two days and the curing of the base coat will last 3-4 days.

Second Floor Doors. The four double set of doors on the upper level pedestrian spine will be replaced on December 22-24. Access will still be possible through the area, but there will be some detour. Jeff noted that he will email staff and faculty beginning the week of December 15 of these upcoming projects.

Jeff noted that, in collaboration with Sodexho, they are looking at bringing in Freshns smoothies. This is a milk/yogurt based product. Jeff and Sodexho are looking at Summer 2004 for placement. The Oasis beverage at Jazzmans will probably be replaced by the Freshns product.

Tenet Reports.

Bookstore. Anthony Martinez noted that book buyback is December 12 – 20. He noted that when students sell books back, the Bookstore gives more money than the wholesaler. He also noted that they will be receiving many shipments for the Spring Semester and reminded everyone not to park in the Bookstore loading dock area.

ROAR. Mary Yates noted that there are now 108 registered organizations with the ROAR office. She noted that there is a new website for Commuter Students under the Campus Life section of the UCCS website.
