Budget: Jeff noted that the University Center currently has a $71,737.15 balance on the $2,419,624 budget. These reserves are not large, in the case of an emergency; but may be expanded if the campus experiences student enrollment growth. The current budget is obtained from student fees and self-generated monies. A motion to approve the budget was made by Carla and was seconded by Jessica. Approval of budget will be placed on next agenda.
Campus Recreation Center Construction: Campus Recreation Center groundbreaking is scheduled for April 12 at 10:30am in the north end of Parking Lot 8. The Construction is starting after finals week, and will last 12-14 months. The construction site has been relocated off the hillside to level ground, reducing the 4 story design to a 2-story structure.
Bookstore: Carla noted that book signings are scheduled for this Thursday and next Wednesday. The Bookstore will also be closed on April 28, 2006 for inventory. The Graduation Fair will be going on until April 5, 1006 in the University Center.
Athletics: Jessica announced the new Men's basketball coach, Russ Caton, and a new assistant Men's basketball coach, Bill Kappel. Several members of the Track team may be attending Nationals. The Softball team tied for 2nd in their Division and Golf is also doing well. Cross Country has a possibility of sending team members to Nationals. Women's Basketball has several big commitments from incoming players, names to be announced after signing. The gym floor will be re-striped after semester ends.
The Blue Ribbon Commission: Jeff noted that the Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity will take place on Friday, April 7, 2006 in the University Center gym and that set up is scheduled for Thursday. The Overlook will be closed on Friday for the Blue Ribbon Commission and Jazzman's will be open normal hours. The University Center will be hosting a BBQ on the Upper Plaza on Friday, April 7, 2006 from 11:30am - 1:00 pm since the Overlook is closed.
Jessica noted that she was not notified that the gym was being set up this morning and that she could not arrange practice time. She noted that she will contact Gayla Gallegos for the gym use prior to this weekend's game.
Carla asked what rooms in the University Center will be utilized for Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 classes. Jeff noted that UC 307 will become a computer lab and that smart classroom equipment will be placed in 116 A & B and room 122 for classrooms.
Meeting adjourned at 9:35 a.m. The next UCAB meeting is May 2, 2006 in UC 307.
