Jeff Davis opened the meeting at 11:07 a.m.  A meeting agenda and the March 9, 2004 meeting minutes were distributed.

Approval of minutes from March 9, 2004.  Jeff asked that the meeting minutes be reviewed.  Laura Eurich moved to approve the minutes with no revisions and Ben Martin seconded the motion.  The vote was to approve.

Budget Status.  Jeff noted that the University Center Budget is built on the previous head count.  As long as UCCS does not have a negative enrollment, the budget is fine for next year.

Freshëns Format.  Jeff noted that the Taste of The Springs will be moving to the end of the Grille in the Overlook.  Freshëns will be housed in the Taste of The Springs area and should be operating by first week of June.  A mini-Grand Opening is planned for first week of Summer session and Grand Opening is planned for Fall session with Freshëns coupons.  The Overlook will not lose any of the Taste of the Springs options.  Sodexho will be sending two of its employees to Atlanta, GA for Freshëns training.

Pizza Hut Franchise.  Jeff noted that the 5 year franchise with Pizza Hut is expiring September 1, 2004.   Jeff noted that the sales have not decreased in the pizza sales.  He noted that he was previously concerned about the P-Zones taking sales from the pizzas, but pleased to see the increase sales in both products.  Jeff noted that there will be a renewal of the Pizza Hut contract with a 2 year extension.

LCD Screen Bid / Installation.  Jeff noted that the University Center and Student Government was awarded money to install LCD (originally plasma) screens in the University Center for advertising by clubs, organizations, and events.  The LCD screens will be 42 each.  Two LCD screens will be mounted from the ceiling next to elevator shaft in the Pavilion area and two additional LCD screens will be mounted in the second floor lobby of the University Center.  The final diagrams are going to bid.  Hopefully, installation will be at the end of Spring Semester, but the evaluation process took longer than expected.  Any digital image will be able to be displayed on the screens.  Hopefully, additional screens will be added at the Lodge in Housing and in at University Hall.  Teresa Rudd asked if there will be any cost to clubs and organizations for advertising.  Jeff noted that there will be no charge, but the long range goal is to attract off-campus commercial paid advertisements.

Area Reports.

Scheduling.   Gayla Gallegos noted that the Scheduling Office is busy.

Campus Life.  Carmen Abeyta noted that the Chancellor's Leadership Classes have completed and have 9 graduates.

University Center.  Samantha Villarreal reported that the Information Desk is selling Breast Cancer 'Fund the Fight' Stamps for $0.45 (8 goes towards Breast Cancer research).

Student Government.  Ben noted that Student Government elections are April 1921, 2004 and that there is only one competitive position and one position unfilled.

Bookstore.  Anthony Martinez announced that the Bookstore is having sales till the end of the month.  He noted that the Bookstore will be closed for physical inventory on 4/30, 5/1, and 5/2.

Athletics.  Jeff reported that there are three candidates being interviewed for the Athletic Director position.  If Women's Fast Pitch wins one of the next six games, UCCS will host the RMAC Conference 4/30/04 5/2/04.

Meeting adjourned 11:27 a.m.  The next UCAB meeting is Tuesday, May 4, 2004 in the University Center room 307, 11:00a.m. 12:00p.m.

Respectfully submitted by Samantha Villarreal.
