Jeff Davis opened the meeting at 12:35 p.m.  An agenda and November 14, 2003 meeting minutes were distributed.

Meeting minutes approval.  The board members reviewed the previous meeting minutes.  Kathy Griffith motioned to approve the previous minutes with no revisions and Sean Flaherty seconded the motion.  The vote was to approve.

Sodexho Spring Semester Specials.  Jeff noted the Value Lunch Meal table tents and displays that are in the Overlook and Pub locations.  The table tents note specials for Monday Wednesday in the Pub and Thursday Friday in the Overlook for $3.00 meals.  Jeff noted that 'Fanny Gravy' was on the menus and it is New Orleans spicy style gravy.  Kathy suggested that the menus be emailed to the staff and faculty lists.  She noted that, previously, Sodexho would email menus on a monthly basis.  Kathy and Jeff noted that it is a good promotional idea to email menus on a monthly basis.   Russell Saunkeah noted that Sodexho will be adding an article in the Scribe to update students on changes and new menus.

Pizza Hut Contract.  Jeff noted that the Pizza Hut contract is to be renewed this year for a five-year contract.  He noted that the sales of Pizza Hut have not diminished, as at comparative sites.  Donnie just received Pizza Hut PaZone promotional material and will be offering a taste sampling soon.

Freshëns.  Jeff noted that the Taste of the Springs will move to the end of The Grill and that Freshëns will be placed in that area.  Freshëns is a yogurt / ice cream based smoothie with many items (such as power boosts, etc) available to add.  The tossed salads currently available in the Taste of the Springs will be added to the grill area that has unused counter space.  Construction will begin at the break between 2004 Spring and Summer semesters.  Construction expense is estimated at $20,000 of which majority is equipment and mill work expense.  Upfront money from the Sodexho food service contract will pay for part of the construction costs.

RHA Food Service Advisory Board.  Sean noted that a national survey was completed on the Housing Village food service.  The Housing Village has participated in the survey for the past two years.  Sean noted that Sodexho showed improvement in every category.  Russell noted that he will give Sean the individual category numbers from the Sodexho survey to compare with the Housing Village survey.

Food Plans for new Apartment Housing.  Jeff, Sean, Greg Soukup, and John Hawkins (Sodexho District Manager) will meet to create meal plans for the Apartment Residence.  The Apartment Residence meal plans will be different from the Housing Village meal plans.  Sample plans, such as, 50 block meal plans with Munch Money (flex money) are being discussed.

EBI/ACUI Survey.   Jeff noted that a web-based survey will be distributed to UCCS students.  Educational Benchmarking (EBI) is a national survey and ACU-I is the Association of College Unions International.  The Survey is to receive feedback from a spectrum of students covering the aspects of the University Center, such as, activities/services being offered.  400 surveys are needed and a comparison will be made with 6 schools along the Front Range, including UNC and CC.

Meeting adjourned at 12:55p.m.  The next FSAB meeting is to be announced.
