There are many ways to earn college credit while still in high school. AP, IB and CLEP are the most common and are addressed on their own webpages. Below you will find information about several other sources of college credit in high school. High School Concurrent
Many states offer programs in which a student can complete
high school requirements by completing college course work. As long as the student has received
the college credit from a regionally accredited institution, then that credit is transferable to
UCCS. The student will need to request official transcripts sent from any college/university
attended to the Office of Admissions at UCCS to get that credit transferred.
In class college credit
Many schools will offer a course taught on the high school
campus for college credit. Usually the student will pay the sponsoring college/university to
receive the college credit from the course even though the course is taught on the high school
campus by the high school teacher. As long as the student has received the college credit from a
regionally accredited institution, then that credit is transferable to UCCS. The student will
need to request an official transcript be sent from the sponsoring college/university to the
Office of Admissions at UCCS to get that credit transferred.
Pre-Collegiate Programs
Many colleges/universities offer some sort of pre-collegiate
program where a student may take a course or two over the summers preceding entrance to a
college/university. As long as the student has received the college credit from a regionally
accredited institution, then that credit is transferable to UCCS. The student will need to
request an official transcript be sent from the sponsoring college/university to the Office of
Admissions at UCCS to get that credit transferred.
