Sustainnovation Art Contest - Call for Artists

The Office of Sustainability is holding a contest for students, faculty or staff of UCCS to create art from what would normally just be thrown away.  This art will then be displayed at the Sustainnovation Seminar and Celebration on March 1st in Berger Hall from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.  Participants at the event will have an opportunity to view your artwork and vote on which ones they feel are the best from the show, which is the most creative use of recycled materials, and which piece best exemplifies the theme of "Sustainnovation."  Submission deadline is Monday, February 25th by Midnight.

Submission Guidelines

  • Open to all students, faculty, and staff of UCCS.
  • Materials can be any item that has been "thrown away" - this includes landfill items or recyclables.  The finished work should be primarily composed of waste materials.  Adhesives, connectors, and finishing paint are all examples of items that may be "new."
  • Size:  must not exceed 6 ft in any direction (length, width, depth, or height.)
  • Format:  must be either 2-D or 3-D.
  • Three awards will be given:  best of show, most creative use of waste materials, and which piece best exemplifies the theme of "Sustainnovation."
  • Art work deadline:  submission forms must be received by midnight on Monday, February 25th.
  • Delivery of finished work:  art work can be delivered to Berger Hall on Thursday, February 28th between 8 pm and 10 pm.  If you are unable to make this delivery window, please contact us at to make other arrangements for delivery and storage of your work.  On March 1st, 7:30-9:00 am participants will have access to the display venue to set up art work.
  • Due to limited availability of the venue, all art work must be removed promptly after the show (2 pm on March 1st).  Any work not removed by this time will be recycled.
