The Office of Sustainability is a department of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance
UCCS is committed to providing sustainability education and promoting ecological literacy to our entire campus community, not just our students. New staff orientations occur once per month. At each of these trainings, the sustainability director presents sustainability information about the campus, provides the Campus Sustainability Report, and discusses different campaigns that are taking place to conserve energy and water, and to increase recycling rates. Faculty orientation occurs once per year and the Office of Sustainability provides presentations or information at this event.
In 2008, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies faculty members Tom and Carole Huber attended AASHE's Sustainability Across the Curriculum Leadership workshop. These workshops are for faculty leaders of all disciplines who wish to develop curriculum change programs around sustainability on their campuses. The Hubers both teach in the Sustainable Development Minor.
