Bio: Paul Guidry moved to Colorado Springs, CO in January of 2006 from his native state of Louisiana. In 2008, Mr. Guidry received his MCJ degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He was awarded the Graduate School of Public Affairs Outstanding MCJ Graduate Student Award for 2009. He earned an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice from South Louisiana Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Mr. Guidry’s criminal justice career includes working for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office as a reserve patrol deputy.  He has also worked as a case manager with ComCor Inc. and as an Intake and Release Specialist with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Guidry’s primary reason for choosing the field of criminal justice is there is never a dull moment when working out in the community. A person in Criminal Justice gets to move around constantly and talk to different kinds of people within their community.  For a person with patience and great communication skills who naturally likes helping, a degree in criminal justice enhances skills and opportunities as a police officer, probation/parole officer, prison guard, or child protective services worker.

Mr. Guidry’s  sees the humor in most every situation. His understanding of criminal justice and the criminal justice system is grounded in Frederick Douglass’ wisdom: “Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.”  Mr. Guidry lives by his motto: Do the right thing, the right way for the right reason each and every day.

Areas of Interest: Death Penalty, Courts, Corrections, Police Process

One of Mr. Guidry’s favorite quotations:

It is the spirit and not the form of law that keeps justice alive.- Chief Justice Earl  Warren
