Bio: Pam Sawyer received her Master of Public Administration from the School of Public Affairs at UCCS in 2008. After a career in which she provided information for decision-makers, Ms. Sawyer wanted to learn more about the policy process and how that information was used. The MPA program provided answers to those questions, and many more, and opened new pathways of both thought and action.
Ms. Sawyer has a strong background in research, analysis, and evaluation. These analytic skills produce data which must be filtered through perspectives and context before their usefulness is realized in real world situations. Pam studied environmental sciences (geology, geography, and chemistry) for her undergraduate degree, and worked for several years in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) industry.
Ms. Sawyer has worked at the nexus of environmental science and public policy to produce synergetic solutions at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and both for and with other state and federal governmental entities. She earned a graduate certificate in Sustainable Urban Infrastructure from the University of Colorado Denver in 2010.
In her personal life, Pam enjoys all things food related. She learned organic gardening practices from her grandmother, and is still learning the art of cooking. She likes exploring farmers' markets, local restaurants, and food trucks. Pam has been known to couple her love of food with her love of travel - organizing entire excursions around what to eat, and when!
Areas of Interest: Collaborative planning processes and sustainability issues.
