Bio: Mary Lou Kartis, who received a BA in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, joined the School of Public Affairs in May of 1992 after working four years in Admissions and Records at UCCS. Ms. Kartis has a wide range of duties including budget, human resources, student contacts, course scheduling and providing support to faculty, the dean, associate dean and student degree programs.
In 2002 Ms. Kartis received the UCCS Outstanding Staff Award, based on her exceptional work skills, loyalty to the university, student service, workplace support and collegial work style. She has served on the UCCS Staff Council as a representative (1992-present), as a member of the Executive Board (2007-2010), and as a representative on the CU Systemwide Staff Council (2007-2010). In addition she has served on a variety of campus committees including the blood drive committee, efficiency and effectiveness committee, the UCCS SIS Replacement Project Advisory Committee, the Graduate School Executive Committee, and many others. Despite the workload, she admits readily that she loves her job!

Feel free to contact her if you have any questions related to the School of Public Affairs or UCCS in general!
Ms. Kartis' favorite quote:
Brick walls are there for a reason. They are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. - Randy Pausch
