SOLE Outdoor Trips offer a great way to get outside, learn new skills and make great friends in the beautiful wild lands of Colorado and the surrounding areas. Our trips are open for all levels of experience, from novice to expert with the opportunity for skill acquisition, leadership development, team building, environmental awareness, safety and fun! Our schedule changes each semester so be sure to check back and mark your calendars.

Trip fees

Trip fees indicated are for students, faculty/staff and alumni, and cover the cost of transportation and most gear. Trip attendees, however, must provide their own personal gear, e.g. clothing, rain gear, hiking boots, etc. Multi-day trip fees do cover food costs. Single day trip fees do not cover food costs.

Trip payment

Payment for outdoor trips is managed at the front desk of the UCCS Recreation Center. Both the “waiver” and “medical form” are required at the time of payment for the registration process to be considered completed. Campus Recreation accepts cash, checks and credit cards (Mastercard and Visa).

Trip cancellation

The Campus Recreation Outdoor Program reserves the right to cancel a trip in the event of inclement weather, schedule conflicts, or if the minimum number of sign-ups were not met. Registrants will be contacted via e-mail to inform them of the cancellation of a trip. A full refund will be issued to registrants if the Outdoor Program cancels a trip.

Refund policy

Refunds will only be issued in the event that S.O.L.E. cancels a trip.

Pre-trip meetings

Select programs, activities or trips require attendance at a pre-trip meeting. Information discussed and education provided at the pre-trip meetings are related to safety and risk management, elements essential to the enjoyment of the particular activity or trip. Meetings are held in the Outdoor Center at the UCCS Recreation Center, and registrants will be informed of the meeting date and time via e-mail. Failure to attend a pre-trip meeting disqualifies a registrant from participation in the activity or trip.

Trip food

Single day trips

Single day trip attendees are expected to provide their own food, snacks and drinks. The Outdoor Program and its staff do not provide food or snacks on single day trips.

Multi-day trips

The cost of food and snacks are included in the trip fee for multi-day trips. Menu planning and special accommodations and needs are all discussed at the pre-trip meeting.

Trip departure and arrival

Outdoor Program staff and trip attendees all meet at, and depart promptly from the Outdoor Center.
