UCCS has brought some amazing bands, group and speakers to campus. Check out the highlights of the many events sponsored by the Office of Student Activities.
3OH!3 Hip hop sensation 3OH!3 was the headline band for the first ever concert at UCCS April 2, 2010. Boulder-based 3OH!3 was part of a three-band concert that was held at Mountain Lion Stadium on North Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs. Year Seven, the winner of the UCCS student Battle of the Bands, opened followed by Chain Gang of 1974, K.Flay, and 3OH!3.
The Decemberists One of the most popular indie folk rock bands of the decade, The Decemberists, performed at UCCS April 16, 2011. Fresh from the release of their sixth album, “The King is Dead,” the Portland, Oregon band performed to a sell-out crowd at the Gallogly Events Center.
Flobots The Flobots, one of the most popular Denver-based rock and hip-hop bands, performed at UCCS September 17, 2011. Fresh from their March 2010 album “Survival Story,” the Flobots continued their tradition of outstanding live performances coupled with strong social awareness themes. The band has appeared on “The Tonight Show,” “Conan O’Brien,” and “Carson Daly.” Opening for the six-member Flobots was K. Flay and Air Dhubai.
Bill Nye April 4 marked a memorable moment for UCCS when iconic television host, scientist, inventor and comedian Bill Nye came to the campus. Best known for his popular children’s show, “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” the man who made science fun holds a fond place in many students’ minds. Nye spoke to a packed Gallogly Events Center at 7 p.m. Tickets went on sale just over a month before the event, but many students had a hard time getting one due to demand.
