Technical Requirements

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • An Internet Service Provider (ISP). An ISP is a company that can provide you with the components necessary to connect to the Internet.
  • A broadband internet connection (Cable/DSL/Satellite)
  • A personal Windows PC or Intel-based Mac computer. To take full advantage of the interactivity of the courses, the following system profiles are required:

Microsoft Windows
Windows Vista | Windows 7 | Windows 8
4 GB RAM or more
Sound card & speakers or headphones
A webcam and headphones are recommended

Mac OS X
Version 10.7 Lion or newer
Intel based Mac
4 GB of RAM
Speakers or headphones

SOFTWARE (can be purchased online and downloaded using the link on the UCCS Help Desk site)

  • Microsoft Office 2010 or newer for PC users
  • Microsoft Office 2008 or newer for Mac users or know how to export to .doc, .xls and .ppt from iWork software (Pages, Numbers, Keynote)
  • Adobe Reader 11 - free download at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

BROWSER - Firefox and Safari are the recommended browsers for accessing the Blackboard Learning Management System

  • Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher
  • Safari 6.0 or higher
  • Firefox 25.0 or higher - download the latest version of Firefox

    You are required to use your UCCS student e-mail account for your online course. UCCS e-mail is accessible 24/7 from any computer with a web browser.
