General Event Details and Pre-Registration Guidelines

Competition and Awards are held each year at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS)

General Competition Information:

1.     Competition times:

Testing begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m.

Competition ends at 1:00 p.m.

2.     Awards Ceremony agenda:

Awards will be the following Friday AFTER the competition date each year.

2:00-3:00 pm  Olympiad Solutions

3:00-3:45 pm  Lecture given by Alexander Soifer

4:00-5:30 pm  Presentation of Awards

5:30 pm  Reception hosted by Alexander Soifer

3.     Pre-registration Information:

Pre-registration will be available beginning in January each year.  Registration is ongoing and is OPEN until the day of the test.

Non-registered students may still participate in the competition.

In order to pre-register students, please provide the following information in an email to Margie at moldham@uccs.edu:

Teacher/Mentor name

3.     Testing Information:

CMO is an individual test

CMO is open to all middle and high school students

CMO is an essay-type test consisting of (5) problems

Students may bring: calculators, compasses and/or straight edge rulers

UCCS will provide: graphing paper, pencils and scratch paper

Students will be given folders which will include: a campus map, scratch paper, pencil, and an Awards Ceremony announcement.

Schools must have a designated meeting location and time for participants leaving before 1 p.m. and for students being picked up by parents. Please note: students will not be tested by schools; students are assigned to testing rooms, randomly.

Registration/Check-in (8:00 a.m.) and Check-Out (after student completes test) is required in the University Center, Berger Hall- this will be a central meeting location for questions, emergencies, etc. Testing will be held in the Gallogly Event Center.
