Competition and Awards are held each year at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS)

General Competition Information:

The competition will be held the fourth Friday in April every year, with the award ceremony to be the following Friday.

1.     Competition times:

Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m.

Competition begins PROMPTLY at 9:00 a.m.

Competition ends at 1:00 p.m.

2.     Awards Ceremony agenda:

Awards will be the following Friday AFTER the competition date each year.

1:45 pm -2:30 pm  Olympiad Solutions

2:40 pm -3:25 pm  Lecture given by Alexander Soifer

3:30 pm -4:00 pm  Documentary (The Colorado Mathematical Olympiad)

4:00 pm -5:00 pm Presentation of awards

5:00 pm -5:30 pm  Reception hosted by Alexander Soifer

3.     Pre-registration Information:

Pre-registration will be available beginning in January each year.  Registration is online. Should you miss the online registration deadline you will be able to register the morning of the competition at the event.

3.     Competition Information:

CMO is an individual competition

CMO is open to all middle and high school students

CMO is an essay-type competition consisting of (5) problems

Students may bring: calculators, compasses and/or straight edge rulers

UCCS will provide: graphing paper, pencils and scratch paper

Students will be given folders which will include: a campus map, scratch paper, pencil, and an Awards Ceremony announcement.

Schools must have a designated meeting location and time for participants leaving before 1 p.m. and for students being picked up by parents. Please note: students will not enter the competion by schools - this is an individual competition.

Registration/Check-in (8:00 a.m.) and Check-Out (after student completes test) is required in the University Center, Berger Hall- this will be a central meeting location for questions, emergencies, etc. competition will be held in the Gallogly Event Center.
