The Matrix Center Community Advisory Board
Board Goals and Responsibilities
Goals of the Matrix Center Community Advisory Board:
1. Provide Ongoing community input: to help us better serve the community by including broader
segments of the community in our extra-curricular programming; more efficiently communicating with
the community; providing feedback about events, activities and organizations for potential
collaboration; actively working with us to plan specific events and programs; increasing student
community involvement; and providing input as we plan our future growth.
2. Provide a voice in the community: to represent the Matrix Center in the community, and to
educate the broader community and encourage community involvement in the activities of the Matrix
Center.
3. Support development and fundraising: to support our growth and development, and to provide input,
networking, connections, and advocacy to help us grow.
Board Member Responsibilities:
1. I agree to attend meetings as scheduled. If I am unable to attend, I will send a representative
in my place.
2. I will serve as a community advocate for the Matrix Center, and help to raise community
awareness.
3. I will learn as much as I can about the Center and its Programs.
4. I will provide input and communicate community needs for programming to the Matrix
5. I will strive to increase community involvement in the Center, in ways that are relevant for me,
whether working with students/interns, helping to organize conferences, speaking to classes,
suggesting guest speakers for classes or events, introducing individuals and organizations to the
Directors; sharing news of community events, etc.
6. I will contribute to friend-raising and fundraising strategies by identifying potential donors
and grants; assisting with the development of fundraising strategies, participating in fundraising
events to support the Matrix, and personally donating to support the work of the Matrix Center.
7. I will strive to attend Matrix sponsored events and activities.
