At the LGBT+ Resourc Center, we envision an LGBT+ affirming and inclusive UCCS campus. Reaching that goal starts with education which The LGBT+ Resource Center @ MOSAIC is pleased to provide.

OPTIONS:

1. Safe Zone Ally Training Safe Zone Image

Safe Zone Ally Training is a training for allies interested in creating a safe and affirming environment for LGBT+ students, friends, family and colleagues. The Safe Zone Ally Training was started by students and is currently conducted by the LGBT Resource Center. This interactive presentation includes some of the following: basic terminology, LGBT+ history, discrimination, common myths and misconceptions, and how to support an LGBT+ affirming environment. Due the variations in schedules the LGBT Resource Center is now scheduling this presentation based on department or group availablity. Contact the lgbtrc@uccs.edu to schedule a training session.

  1. Schedule a specialized presentation

Our office will be pleased to provide a presentation to your class or conference, or other group on subject areas you would like to explore as they relate to the general LGBT+ population. Contact lgbtrc@uccs.edu to schedule and develop a workshop tailored to your groups needs.

3. Mentorship Program and Peer Mentorship Program

Currently in development, students who are interested in meeting with an LGBT+ mentor may contact us. A mentor may be faculty or staff on UCCS campus. Please send us an email if you are interested. Email us at lgbtrc@uccs.edu.

4. Utilize online materials on our information page.

To assist students in accessing information and materials regarding LGBT+ issues we have initiated a project to integrate our resource materials with our website and facebook sites. We are always seeking to update our information. If you see an area on our website that needs work please let us know.

5. Between the Covers: Mini LGBT Library (under construction)

We have a small library of books that address LGBT+ subjects in our resource office at University Center Room 110. We are in the process of creating a list of titles for publication on our website so that students may make use of these materials.
