Military Creative Expressions is a 3-credit-hour course offered through a collaborative partnership between Tara Thomas at the Bemis School of Art at the Fine Arts Center, Kim Nguyen of AspenPointe, and Andrea Herrera, Ph.D. of the UCCS Women's and Ethnic Studies (WEST) Program. This course aims to serve veterans and active-duty military personnel suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The first part of the course will focus on book-art, digital storytelling and photography; the second part of the course will integrate poetry and testimonial/memoir-writing with a variety of media including acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, and pastel.
