2013 National Athletic Directors Conference - University Credit Option

National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)

As a participant at the 2013 National Athletic Directors Conference in Anaheim, California, you are eligible to earn academic credit through the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Either one or two graduate credit hours are available, for those participants attending the conference and attending workshop sessions and/or LTC sessions. The tuition is $137 per one (1) semester hour of credit. Review all sections below before beginning your application for credit.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Review all steps below, then proceed down to the Credit Registration Process section.

ONE (1) CREDIT HOUR OPTION

  1. Must attend a minimum of eight (8) conference activities. Conference activities can include workshops, Leadership Training Courses, discussions, lectures/presentations, general sessions, or seminars. Tour of the exhibit hall can count as one of the eight conference activities. Due to the longer time commitment a Leadership Training Course can count as two conference activities.
  2. List the eight conference activities attended.
  3. Write a description (one page, type written and double-spaced) of any one of the eight sessions attended at the conference and how information learned at this conference can be applied in day-to-day responsibilities as an athletic administrator.
  4. Article Review: Select an article from your personal library on a topic related to one of the other conference activities you attended. Complete a one-page synopsis (type-written and double-spaced) on how the information from the article and the conference activity can apply to your day-to-day responsibilities as an athletic administrator. The IAA journal is an excellent choice.
  5. Download and complete the University of Colorado Faculty Course Questionnaire.
  6. E-mail your two one-page papers and completed Faculty Course Questionnaire to Jay Engeln at jengeln2@uccs.edu.
  7. Course work must be submitted by March 31, 2014. Grades will be processed at the end of the UCCS Spring 2014 semester, mid-May 2014.
  8. EVALUATION AND GRADING:
    • Participation in eight (8) conference activities (60 points)
    • Description and application of conference activity, paper (20 points)
    • Article review, one-page synopsis (20 points)
    • Grades: A 90-100; B 80-90; C 70-79; D 60-69; F below 60

TWO (2) CREDIT HOUR OPTION

  1. Must attend a minimum of eleven (11) conference activities, three of which must be Leadership Training Courses. Other conference activities can include workshops, discussions, lectures/presentations, general sessions, or seminars. Tour of the exhibit hall can count as one of the eleven conference activities.
  2. List the eleven conference activities attended.
  3. Write a description (one page, type written and double-spaced) of any one of the three Leadership Training Courses sessions attended at the conference and how information learned from this LTC can be applied in day-to-day responsibilities as an athletic administrator.
  4. Article Review: Select an article from your personal library on a topic related to one of the other conference activities you attended. Complete a one-page synopsis (type-written and double-spaced) on how the information from the article and the conference activity can apply to your day-to-day responsibilities as an athletic administrator. CREDIT REGISTRATION PROCESS

  1. ONLINE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE NOW - DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS MARCH 14, 2014.
  2. Download the Credit Registration Instructions for the 2013 AD Conference. These instructions will walk you through applying to the Extended Studies program, claiming your myUCCS student portal account, registering for your credit section(s), and paying your tuition. Class Number(s) for both one-credit-hour and two-credit-hour options are included in the instructions. These sections fall within the SPRING 2014 SEMESTER.
