Nicole Wilder - KPWE Scholar

Nicole was born in Kingsport, Tennessee and eventually relocated to Colorado. After her divorce, Nicole received custody of her three young children and realized she needed a means to support her three children and herself.  She moved to Colorado Springs in 2007 to attend UCCS in the College of Engineering and was 35 years old when she walked into her first college class.  Nicole received her BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2011 and looks forward to receiving her MS in Mechanical Engineering this spring. During her first semester of grad school, Nicole's son was stricken with a life-threatening condition.  After returning home from Children's hospital, Nicole and her son both sought help and worked diligently to complete their studies that semester.  Nicole held an internship at Honeywell supporting the Air Force Satellite Control Network Contract.    It has been a long, hard, and emotional road for Nicole, but she looks forward to celebrating her accomplishment by taking a few months off to be a full-time mom before pursuing her career.
