Software Policy for Computing Classrooms and Labs

One of our department goals is to keep all software and hardware in all computing classrooms and labs consistent. However, the Information Technology department can include specialized software in the classrooms or a lab upon request under the following circumstances: The requesting department must:

1. Provide enough licensing for the number of systems needed in the class. For example, if you have 20 students you must provide 20 licenses.
2. Provide the Information Technology department with a copy of the software.
3. Provide at least one copy of documentation.
4. Provide not less than 4 weeks advanced notice to the Information Technology department when new software is needed in classrooms or labs. (During this month the software will be loaded and tested.)

Here's What Happens Next:

The Information Technology department installs the software (to insure lab configurations.)
The software must run on Windows 7 64-bit for PCs or OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for Macintoshes where applicable.
It is up to the instructor to test the software and determine that it functions properly.
NOTICE: Every Fall semester this software will be removed unless the department resubmits a request to keep it available.
