Steps for Admission to UCCS

Freshman and Transfer Undergraduate International Students

  • Apply online at https://www.uccsadmissions.org/intl/ by submitting your:
    • Application
    • Pay non-refundable application fee (online or mail)
    • Official high school transcripts certified and translated to English (final three years)
    • Proof of English proficiencey: IELTS or TOEFL with acceptable passing score*
    • If you have taken the ACT or SAT, please include those scores in your application packet as well

Graduate Students

  • TOEFL: Students must receive a minimum score of 80 on the iBT or 550 on the paper-based exam within the past two years (UCCS code: 4874)
  • IELTS: Students must receive a minimum score of 6.0 within the past two years
  • ACT/Compass Exam: UCCS Intensive English Program students must receive a minimum score of 270

Application Tips


  • Send at least 3 years of secondary school transcripts that list all of the subjects studied and the grades received.
  • All transcripts and certificates must be official and translated into English.
  • Applicants with any post-secondary course work from an international higher education institution (recognized by the country's Education Ministry) need to submit a course-by-course foreign degree evaluation by a NACES member or AACRAO.
  • Only send transcripts and other supporting documents once the on-line application has been completed and the application fee has been paid.
  • UCCS does not require a certification of finances during the application process. Once you are admitted to UCCS, we will then request this information for the issuance of an I-20 or DS-2019. Please do not send this information with your application.
