Thank you for your interest in the UCCS Honors Program. To be considered for the Honors Program you must first apply for admission to UCCS.

To apply for the Honors Program type your answers directly into the application below. Attach files as specified. The Priority Deadline for admission and acceptance into the UCCS Honors Program is January 28, 2013. The Standard Deadline for admission and acceptance into the UCCS Honors Program is March 25, 2013. Students accepted into the UCCS University Honors Program will be guaranteed an institutional scholarship of $1,000 per academic year (renewable for up to four years). Those admitted to Mountain Lion Honors will not receive a scholarship, but will be eligible for all other Honors benefits, including access to the Honors Lounge in Library 231, participation in the annual Honors off-site retreat, early registration and enhanced library check-out privileges, the opportunity to live on the Honors Floor in UCCS Housing, and recognition at UCCS graduation and on UCCS transcripts.

Statement of purpose: Please write a 250 word statement of purpose that allows the Honors Committee to know: (1) why you want to be an Honors student; (2) why you are uniquely suited to the Honors Program; (3) how participating in the Honors Program contributes to your academic and career goals.

Essay: Please write a 500 word essay on one of the following topics:

  1. In the past, the United States was described as "melting pot"; today, it tends to be described as a quilt, in which many strikingly individual pieces nevertheless form a coherent whole. How do you see yourself contributing to the "quilt" of our campus community?
  2. Describe an event or an experience that has affected your outlook on life.
  3. Identify an intellectual or artistic hero. Discuss the reasoning behind your feelings.
