The department is committed to supporting graduate student research. There are a few opportunities to fund academic research through the department as well as the UCCS Graduate School on a competitive basis.
Campus-wide Graduate Student Fellowship The Graduate School offers a highly-competitive, campus-wide (from all school and colleges) award for graduate students. Approximately $30,000 or more (depending on ICR distribution) annually is set aside for Graduate Fellowship Awards. The Fellowships are merit-based awards that contribute to educating graduate students and moving the university research mission forward. The awards are to be used to recruit and retain graduate students. Graduate Student Requirements: The student must be fully admitted to an on-campus graduate program, and be engaged in full (5 or more credits/semester), or part-time (1 to 4 credits/semester) study to be eligible for the fellowship. If the graduate student fails to meet the credit/semester requirement, the fellowship is forfeited. Outstanding Graduate Student Award The Outstanding Graduate Student award is decided and awarded each spring semester at the LAS Awards Ceremony, as well as at the History Department awards ceremony/celebration.
UCCS History Department - Graduate Student Travel and Research Grant The History Department is funding a new graduate student grant to support travel to conduct research, or to attend conferences, directly connected to graduate research and studies by UCCS History graduate students. The grant awards are typically limited to $300.00 for each research project or conference attendance. In cases of intensive language training or other exceptional circumstances, grants could be increased to $500. The Department will announce a call for proposals due in mid-semester during both Spring and Fall. Typically, no more than four grants will be funded in each semester.
UCCS Graduate School Graduate Student Travel Awards The UCCS Graduate School is pleased to announce a new, limited allocation of funds to help offset travel expenses for graduate students that travel to meetings that will further their research efforts, and the research efforts of the University; as well as travel to trainings and workshops that will contribute to their professional development.
