Accessing the UCCS Wireless Network

Connecting to UCCS Wireless - Windows 7

 

1. Click the networking icon in the system tray, typically located in the lower right side of the screen.

2. Click the UCCS-Wireless network.

  

3. Click Connect

4. Enter your UCCS username and password.

5. A certificate warning window may pop up.  Click Connect.

6.  Close settings by clicking the Close button.  Open your Web Browser and follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

 

Manual Wireless Network Setup

 

Typically, Windows is capable of detecting most of the needed wireless network settings automatically.  If this does not seem to be working, you can manually configure the network using the following steps:

1. Click on the networking icon in the system tray, typically located in the lower right of the screen.

2. Click Open Network and Sharing Center to bring up the Networking control panel.

3. Click Manage wireless networks, located near the upper left of the window. This will open the wireless network management window.

4. Click Add, located near the upper left of the window.  This will bring up the Manually connect to a wireless network window.

5. Click Manually create a network profile.

6. In the "Network name:" box, type UCCS-Wireless.

7. In the "Security type" box, select WPA2-Enterprise.

8. In the "Encryption type:" box, select AES.

9. Click Next.

10. Click Close to close the window.

11.  The network should now be configured.  The next time you attempt to connect to it, it should then ask you for your username and password.

 

Troubleshooting

 

If you are having problems authenticating with the wireless network, especially if your computer has been previously configured to work with another network, try the following:

1. Click on the networking icon in the system tray, typically located in the lower right of the screen.

2. Right click on the UCCS-Wireless networking, then click Properties.  This should bring up the "UCCS-Wireless Wireless Network Properties" window.

3. Click on the Security tab in the upper left of the window.

4. Click on the Settings button near the middle of the window.

5. Click on the Configure... button near the bottom right of the window.  This should open the "EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties" window.

6. Uncheck the box asking to automatically use your Windows logon name and password, then press OK to close the window.

7. Press OK to close the "Protected EAP Properties" window.

8. Press OK to close the "UCCS-Wireless Wireless Network Properties" window.

9. Attempt to connect to the UCCS-Wireless network as described above.
