Accessing the UCCS Wireless Network

Antivirus & Antispyware

Malware can cause a variety problems. It can track your movements on the internet and share this information with others, send you unwanted pop-ups, block your internet connection, or even steal your private information. These processes can also slow down your computer and your internet connection; in some cases they can cause conflicts in your system. There is no way to completely prevent malware from getting onto your computer. Therefore, it is necessary to scan and remove it periodically.

To protect your computer, you should always run anti-malware software and keep it up to date. Antivirus software is required to use the wireless network on campus. If you suspect your computer is infected with malware, contact the IT Help Desk immediately.

University Owned Computers On Campus

  • The University provides Microsoft Forefront (MFF) for Windows based systems and Sophos for Mac based systems.
  • Both programs are updated automatically and a virus and spyware scan is performed weekly. If you use a laptop it will automatically update if it is not on the campus network.
  • Please contact the IT Help Desk to have MFF or Sophos installed on your University computer.

Personal, Dorm and Off Campus
