Library VPN for Windows XP

UPDATE: Microsoft has discontinued support for Windows XP in July 2011. As such, the IT Department is no longer providing support as well. However, these help sheets will be available for anyone still using it.

SUMMARY: This document will walk you through the necessary steps to set up the UCCS Library VPN (Transporter) connection in Windows XP (SP3). The Library VPN (Transporter) connection is used to access the Kraemer Family Library journal database as well as other additional resources. When connected to this VPN server, the security restricts you from many other resources - remember to log out of VPN when you're finished.

Note: Although it's named Library VPN (Transporter), this configuration is also used for other off-campus resources such as Human Resources and Financial Systems.

1. Click on the

2. Click on

3. This opens the wizard. Click on

button.

4. Type

in the box and click the

button.

5. If you have a dial-up configuration on your computer, this screen should appear next. If you have broadband, click on

.

6. Otherwise make sure the correct dial-up connection is shown in the box. Click the down-arrow to select a different dial-up connection. Click the

button.

7. Type

in the box and click the

button.

8. Select the appropriate choice for account users and click the

button. On the next screen, click the

button.

14. Ensure there's a checkmark in the box marked

16. To use VPN, click on the

button. If you have dial-up, you may have to enter the dial-up username and password on another window that pops up.

18. Open an internet browser and go to

. From here you can search the databases or journals.
