The first half of this evening's concert will include works from Karen's multimedia presentation Violin, Viola & Video Virtuosity by composers Jeffrey Harrington, Charles Norman Mason and Ofer Ben-Amots. The second half includes Equipoise (breath in repose), a premiere from composer Glen Whitehead; Alaskan composer Matthew Burtner's The Golden Sparrow for off-stage trumpet, container of light and electronics; Elliott Carter's Shard for solo guitar; and a masterwork of impressionism, Claude Debussy's Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp (arr. guitar). Surrounding and illuminating the music will be Ceramica: Contemporary Clay, an installation featuring five regional artists breaking the mold in their handling of this ancient medium.
