ChitChat is a series of mash-up talks on contemporary culture and DIY topics. Stephen Winchell, craft cocktail connoisseur and executive bartender at The Warehouse Restaurant, will talk about Absinthe. Michaela Steen, UCCS director of the Visual Resource Center, will chat about transhumanism.

Connect with Chris Coleman and Laleh Mehran, the creators of W3FI: Colorado Springs, to learn about the ripple effect of digital engagement and interaction during the First Friday downtown art walk. They will talk about their art practice and installation featured in the exhibition Cybercy: exploring the post-Internet human matrix


These talks are part of the Cybercy exhibition and the UCCS Visiting Artists and Critics Series, which fosters understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through dialogue and critical conversations. Artists and scholars of national significance present public lectures and meet with UCCS undergraduate students in classes and workshop settings. The Visiting Artists and Critics Series is a collaborative program of the UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art and the UCCS Department of Visual and Performing Arts.



ABOUT THE ARTISTS 

Christopher Coleman creative practice interests include control systems, chaos and order, digital interaction, physical interaction, borders, animation, appropriation, technological decay, art as activism, audio/video manipulation, systems in nature, and object creation. Coleman received his B.F.A. in sculpture at West Virginia University where he also spent a number of years studying Mechanical Engineering, and M.F.A. at SUNY Buffalo specializing in Interactivity and Real-Space Electronics. He is currently faculty at the University of Denver, Emergent Digital Practices program.

Laleh Mehran
 is an artist areas working at intersections of art and science, media politics, Eastern and Western philosophies and emerging forms of time-based media. Mehran's work has manifested as interactive installations, videos, and performances. Mehran received her BFA in Creative Photography from The University of Florida, and her MFA in Electronic Time-Based Media from Carnegie Mellon University. She is a Professor and the Graduate Director in Emergent Digital Practices at the University of Denver.
